With three new ETFs, Vanguard is expanding access to global equities by offering different perspectives on the global investment universe. What these products have in common is their broad geographic approach, spanning developed and emerging markets. At the same time, they differ significantly in terms of which companies and regions they focus on—ranging from the broadest possible global coverage to the deliberate exclusion of the U.S. to a focus on smaller companies.
The Vanguard FTSE Global All-Cap UCITS ETF invests in large-, mid-, and small-cap stocks worldwide, offering a particularly comprehensive, broadly diversified exposure to companies of various sizes from developed and emerging markets. The index includes over 10,000 companies, representing 98 percent of the market capitalization of the globally investable equity market.
The Vanguard FTSE All-World ex-U.S. UCITS ETF focuses on large- and mid-cap stocks from developed and emerging markets worldwide—excluding the U.S. The number of stocks, approximately 2,200, is slightly lower than that of the corresponding Vanguard fund, which holds just under 3,900 stocks.
The Vanguard FTSE Global Small-Cap UCITS ETF, on the other hand, specifically targets small-cap stocks worldwide. It invests in companies that account for the smallest 10 percent of the market capitalization of the globally investable equity universe. Currently, there are 3,877 constituents in the tracked index.
All three ETFs are available in both reinvestment and distribution share classes.
These investment themes expand the range of offerings: U.S. technology, global small-cap stocks, global stocks excluding the U.S., global all-cap diversification, and active factor investing.
